The University of Pennsylvania Environmental Group is a student run group aiming to increase campus awareness of global environmental issues across the Penn community and throughout the world. The Group seeks to incorporate ideals from a diverse community, and expose the campus, community and the world at large to an expanded knowledge of environmental issues. Our major principles are as follows:
- Attempt to raise the awareness of the University of Pennsylvania community to current local and global environmental issues. The Group has primary concern for enacting change on the local level, while secondarily promoting awareness of national and global issues.
- Provide an open forum conducive to the free exchange of ideas and information about environmentally related issues. The Group acts as an academic environmental resource for Penn and the surrounding community.
- Focus energy on the immediate issues concerning the University of Pennsylvania community. The group provides an opportunity to transform this awareness and idealism into useful and effective local action and involvement.
To achieve these ends, we attempt to take the intellectual idealism of individuals and provide a group opportunity for its transformation into direct local action and impact. It is our belief that as a collective, diverse group we have more power to enact change than on an individual basis. In this mission statement we have created a set of goals and ideals to be used as a base for the common vision we hold of a sustainable future. |
