Alpha Chi Omega was founded on October 15, 1885, at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Professor James Hamilton Howe, Dean of the Music School, invited seven young women from the school to attend a meeting for the purpose of forming a society. The Alpha Epsilon chapter brings the best of the old and new to Penn. First established at Penn in 1919, Alpha Chi was proudly re-chartered in the spring of 1990. As a member of one of the strongest national sororities in the country, located on 134 campuses, Alpha Chis are part of a network that involves hundreds of thousands of women nationwide.
