Dearest Sorors and Friends,
It is both an honor and pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Electrifying Gamma Epsilon Philadelphia City Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. We are a citywide, undergraduate chapter whose charter includes: Drexel University, LaSalle University, Philadelphia University, St. Joseph’s University and the University of Pennsylvania.
Since being chartered in 1945, the Gamma Epsilon Philadelphia City Chapter has been dedicated to upholding the legacy of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. As a chapter, we personally strive to embody all three of our beloved Sorority’s thrusts: Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service. Our new national program “Economics, Sisterhood, and Partnership (E.S.P.)” has enabled us to serve the community in many unique and innovative ways and we look forward to integrating the new platforms into this year’s programming and community service.
Gamma Epsilon is an award-winning chapter whose recent acknowledgements include: Alpha Kappa Alpha Chapter of the Year (North Atlantic Region), Drexel University’s Dean Cup, University of Pennsylvania’s Sadie T.M. Award for Overall excellence, and several others. We are also the proud winners of the 2006 Stomping on the Yard Step Show competition.
In addition to serving our respective campuses, Gamma Epsilon is committed to serving the greater Philadelphia community. Our current service projects are Girl Talk, a mentor program for seventh and eighth grade students and Read On!, a literary tutoring program for kindergarten and first grade students at Sayre Elementary School. The chapter also collected and donated more than $3,000 to the American Cancer Society, participated in the Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk and the Philadelphia AIDS Walk, and helped oversee the Rena Rowan Ribbon Run.
I sincerely hope that our website provides you with more information about Gamma Epsilon and its members. I am personally very proud of the work that the chapter is doing and I am so happy to be able to share our efforts with all of you. If you have the time, I encourage you to sign our guestbook and please feel free to email
the chapter if you have any other questions.
Sincerely,
Malaika Staten
President
